Two In One

Here are paintings 13 and 14!  They are twin pieces inspired by the renowned American artist and teacher Robert Henri.  In his book "The Art Spirit," Henri recommends working on two paintings (of the same thing) at the same time.  He hypothesizes that this process is a great learning experience.  I finally tackled this idea, and the process was enlightening.  The result is two similar yet divergent paintings.  What do you think?

This painting was inspired by the insanely beautiful patterns of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.  

I was blown away by the intricacies of pattern when I visited there a few years ago.  In the painting I wanted to capture the impression of beauty and mystery that the building holds.

I am happy to say that I finished the ninth painting before 6pm.  Record timing! Here it is.  Only twenty one more paintings to go.

Here is the eighth painting!  Everything is a whirlwind of artwork right now.  I am barely finishing one and starting another painting the very next morning.  I love the momentum.

As many of you know, at the end of the 30 Paintings in 60 Days Project, there will be an art show for everyone to come see the finished artwork.  So although I do mean to post a photo of each painting as I do them, I also want there to be some surprise paintings at the show!  Above I have depicted just small details of paintings 6 & 7 so they will still be a surprise for everyone.

I love the teal color in Elise Wehle's latest work below.  Annie Henrie is up to speed on her paintings as well, but has kept photos tightly under wraps for the upcoming art show.  Thanks as always for following along and I love to hear from you!
