Here is the 10th Painting!
This painting was inspired by the insanely beautiful patterns of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.
I was blown away by the intricacies of pattern when I visited there a few years ago.  In the painting I wanted to capture the impression of beauty and mystery that the building holds.

Here is the eighth painting!  Everything is a whirlwind of artwork right now.  I am barely finishing one and starting another painting the very next morning.  I love the momentum.

Here is Elise Wehle's most recent piece:

As many of you know, at the end of the 30 Paintings in 60 Days Project, there will be an art show for everyone to come see the finished artwork.  So although I do mean to post a photo of each painting as I do them, I also want there to be some surprise paintings at the show!  Above I have depicted just small details of paintings 6 & 7 so they will still be a surprise for everyone.

I love the teal color in Elise Wehle's latest work below.  Annie Henrie is up to speed on her paintings as well, but has kept photos tightly under wraps for the upcoming art show.  Thanks as always for following along and I love to hear from you!

Falling Sky

I completed my fifth painting last night. This one is much larger than the others - 23" x 30". The large format made it much more challenging and fun.  I love painting large because you have room for broad textures, sweeping loose brushstrokes, and movement.

Check out Elise Wehle's gorgeous mixed media artwork:

Day 6 of 60

Cascade     8" x 12"    $150

I am happy to say I have made it to day 6 of 60. Here is my painting based on the drawing that follows. It was inspired by my total obsession with chandeliers.  My husband can vouch that whenever we go to Lowe's or Home Depot, I am always eyeing the chandeliers. My favorite is the caged chandelier from Restoration Hardware.  This painting was inspired by two chandeliers depicted below.

What do you think of the painting? As always, I appreciate your comments.

Here is Elise Wehle's second piece of artwork!  She is going strong on the project as well.

Day 4 of 60: Sweet Succulents

"Sweet Succulents"    8" x 8"   $100.00

I fell in love with these beautiful succulents—their smoothness, color and hardiness. Surprisingly, they were fun to paint! I had anticipated the 60 Days of Painting challenge to be stressful, but so far it has been enjoyable. Whenever I paint, I obsess over every detail; I never want to say a painting is "finished" since I always see room for improvement. Having a deadline helps me let go and enjoy the results.

Below is a sneak preview of the painting I began today. Stay posted for the finished artwork tomorrow.
Also be sure to check out Elise Wehle's artwork for the project as well.

For those who have been eyeing been my prints on Society6, now is a great time to purchase. Free shipping is available from today to March 17, 2013 at Midnight Pacific Time. *Offer excludes Framed Art Prints, Stretched Canvases and Throw Pillows with insert.

60 Days of Painting

March is going to be a great month for painting!  This March and April I am taking the challenge to paint 30 paintings in 60 days.  Fellow artists Elise Wehle and Annie Henrie are also participating in the challenge.

Please feel free to follow my blog as I post a painting every two days.  The focus of the project is to enjoy the process of painting, not to worry and labor over every meticulous detail.  If you have any comments, image or theme ideas, leave them below or on my facebook page.  I would love to hear from you.  All paintings that will be posted are for sale.  Please contact me if you see one that you would like to have in your home.

Above is the first painting.  Below you can see the wood panels Annie and I made for the project!  It is difficult to see, but there really are 30 panels here.

Also, I am happy to announce that you can currently purchase prints and originals of my artwork on the following sites:

Here's to a great 60 days of painting!
