Summer Sunset

Summer is here in Salt Lake City, so I warmed up my color palette today.
Sunset-lit feathers and broken shapes are a fun change from painting flowers.

I love Elise Wehle's newest piece.
It reminds me of how many emotions and memories we carry in our hands.

  1. Heather its Annie! (Cantwell :D). I want to review/critique Summer Sunset! I love this one, its so beautiful. It reminds me of contemporary art a bit more than your usual (a little of your uncle's work too), and I like that it is a bit of a departure, especially in your color palette. The golden tones work well together and remind me of mid-summer. They are still quite pop-y like your usual palette. I like it, but I think it would be interesting to see a companion piece with softer coloring. Sort of a continuation as the sun is going down more, with more muted tones.
I really love the dream catchers as an additional focus. They are evocative as images but also not an immediate choice to include with a sunset painting.
